Two Histories of the World was an experimental exhibition in West Humboldt Park at a former factory — an immense structure in partial disrepair that was home to a large resale business. (The building was demolished early in 2012).

Over the summer of 2011, curator Karsten Lund, asked four artists to conceive and produce new works for this site, using objects and materials taken from a vast stockpile inside the building itself.

With artworks installed throughout the space, the exhibition embodied four distinct responses to the context and the materials on hand. And yet it also marked out the beginning of a larger scenario. A full year later, the artists produced the exhibition all over again at the Hyde Park Art Center.
