filtration devices
The filtration devices were an exploration of visual, tactile and psychological polarities.

Sample Polarities:

black and white
transparency and opacity
interior and exterior
fluidity and stasis
presence and absence

The devices were constructed out of found objects with literal and metaphorical filtration capacities. Dust catchers, drains, funnels and sifters were shifted from their original uses to process disparate materials. The process of filtration left a tangible residue, which would change as the materials, settled, separated, crystallized and evaporated.
