I mine both materials and space to find residues of the past, the past-present, the future-present. I am inspired by histories; both imagined and real, minuscule and epic, forgotten and memorialized.
Some sample histories include:
- a winters long supply of road salt - a synthetic sponge - the relationship of soap to water - an orange construction cord - coney island destroyed by fire - sewer systems - the deterioration of the body - the deterioration of a plastic straw
Underpinning all of the work is a desire to explore the performative and conceptual role of deterioration and residue.
